omg onoz
The doorbell went a few minutes ago. I didn't recognize the guy at the door, but when I opened it he said 'Hey, I found this down the street last night" and handed me my wallet (!!!). He said that he didn't have time to bring it back last night and he was worried I might have been cancelling credit cards, but I had no idea it had been missing until he handed it back to me. It must have fallen out of my pocket on the way back from the laundromat.

to say I'm grateful is an understatement... I'm going to have to get him a gift card to tims or something.

lol forever :D

Kitties are snuggled, gecko is fed and watered, bags are packed, gadgetry is assembled, and I think I'm ready to go. I will be back from Vancouver a week from today. Here's hoping I come back with some work. *crosses fingers*

I'll have access to the internets while I am away, so that is the best way to get in touch with me if necessary. :)

time to go!

*dash*

I suppose it is that time

Since it is past 13:29 on 6 January, that means I am now officially old 30.

welcome, 30!

my plans for today include birthday foodz at my mom's, and that's about as far as I've gotten. :) But stay tuned, if I come up with anything else I will post it here.

omg yay turtle!
yay 2009! I am optimistic that it will be better than 2008. Here's to finding a new job. I have some other resolutions that I am working on also.

anyway. I hope everyone is warm and comfortable today - we are socked in with snow, we probably got over a foot last night but it's really fine and light so it shoveled well. Not going out to my mom's for dinner, today, however - it's entirely too snowcovered out there.

And we're going to have another 10-20cm again today. wheee! sledding on Citadel Hill should be pretty epic, I want to try and go tomorrow. :D

hope everyone has a good day :)

wiiiii!

I got a Wii Fit for xmas! :D :D [info]fremlin lucked out and found one for me at HMV. ^_^ <3

It is very exciting! Although I was kind of distraught to find out what it says my BMI is... and as a result I have a lot of work to do.

Quick first impressions:

The yoga is a lot of fun, and it helps that I know how to do the poses already. It lets you keep track of how your balance is running while you do the pose, which really helps, and I discovered that my balance is better standing on my left foot than my right (which was a little unexpected) and when I am bending to the side (as in half moon pose) I do better bending to my left. The AI trainer gives good descriptions of the poses and how to do the techniques, although I think it's less likely to lead to the feeling of relaxation that I get after a yoga session at the gym. But the balance tracker is really handy and lets me make corrections.

The running is neat! I think I will need either shoes or a mat, though, bare feet on hardwood floor kind of hurts. I am thinking that I might pick up one of the kits with a silicon cover for the balance board, a yoga mat, and I think there are some other things in it as well - it would make it easier on the feets.

The strength training section says I am a couch potato. :( Got to work on that.

this is going to be fun :)

merry xmas!

hope everyone is having a lovely xmas morning!

The cats are playing with their new fuzzy toy (which Ben has pretty much decided is his :), and eating some tasty lobster treats. I am waiting for [info]fremlin to get home because he is helping push [info]digiterati's non-working car back into their driveway, then we will do presents, then off to my mom's.

here is a christmas picture present for [info]fritriac :D

(that's from here btw)

what the darmok?
We came home tonight from an evening out at [info]boulder_girl and [info]digiterati's place to find that our deck door had blown open in the crazy blizzard we're having. It was wide open and there was water all over the kitchen floor.

fortunately we still have two cats.

Tomorrow I am calling the landlord to have him fix the door.

if there's room
I decided this morning that since I was a) awake about two hours before I wanted to be and b) the weather is going to be awful tomorrow that I would see if I could borrow the car and get some errands done, rather than waiting until tomorrow to do them. As a result, the gecko has crickets, I have a candy thermometer, and the cats have cat food (and more treats because I am a sucker and always buy them treats. -_-).

I didn't get to the laundry today, so that will perhaps be tomorrow's errand. Which is okay because a short hop down the street to the laundromat is preferable to trekking all the way out to Bayers Lake in the rain.

Got a batch of cookies chilling in the freezer for tonight, as we are going over to [info]fremlin's parents' place for dinner with his grandmother and other relatives, which will be nice. It will be turkey dinner. :) We are also going to introduce the kittens to the cat, which should be an exciting adventure. I hope they don't try to eat each other.

WAT.

edit: It occurs to me that he probably won't be able to avoid a confidence vote again when they bring in the budget in January, so perhaps the coalition will be able to work anyway.

Stephen Harper is about to start talking on the radio. I can't decide whether I should listen and get really angry, or wait and read about it on the internets later.

...

No, I think I am not going to listen. Sounds like it's going to be all 'Canada is great, y'all voted for the Conservatives, don't let it get screwed up by listening to those separatist-supported left-wing politicians. Oh and here are all the great things we have done that will make us not run a deficit.'

No thanks, Mr Harper. You got yourself and us into this mess, and I sincerely hope that Stephane Dion and co are going to get us out of it.

yay!

run screaming
Liberals, NDP, Bloc sign deal on proposed coalition

It's kind of like the government I always wanted, but didn't think we'd ever actually get. :D

(And I'm sure there are several ways things could go awry, but I'm really enjoying this optimistic feeling, so for the time being I'm just going to bask in the knowledge that Harper won't likely be our PM for very much longer. ^_^)

oh, and also...

today has been rather on the unproductive side, sadly. I have some more dishes to clean up, I didn't get to the gym, I still have to clean the cats' water fountain, and brb have to stop them getting into whatever they are into.

...

oops. knocked some stuff off the table and scared the pants off Ben, who promptly puffed up all his fur in an attempt to look big and scary to whatever made that awful noise. Too bad it was me. :D

I made squash seeds last night with the spaghetti squash leftovers. They are better than pumpkin seeds for sure.

Back to cleaning, again. boo.

I have a small warm cat at the small of my back. :D Said cat is now grooming his feet. hee.

I have just completed an epic mountain of dishes. Next I will cook a tiny!roast (really actually very tiny, it cost me 2.84 (!) and will hopefully turn into excellent sandwiches later).

Boo. I have run out of pomegranate fizzy drink. I could walk to Shoppers to get more, but dinner still needs making and Shoppers closes at 10.

It would be really great to know if I am going to get some gov't moneys in the near future, but it will probably still be a couple of weeks. I may have sold the snow tires, though, so that will help.

boo. back to the kitchen.

eta: sold one pair of tires! :D :D Anyone in the area need a pair of P195 60R14's? They are still in good shape. comment if interested.

on the back is a photocopy of some kind of christmas letter from 2007. I think this came out of my (secondhand) copy of 'Blue At The Mizzen' that I picked up before I went up north...

I haven't been getting comment notifications regularly at *all*, so if I seem to have wandered away from an LJ conversation you were having with me, that's why.

Today I am cleaning and tidying and sorting and such, and tonight will be gym and foodz with [info]magic_missile. yay. :)
